Speaker 1 00:00:04 Good morning and welcome to the daily cat. WMUR is daily news brief. I'm your host Justine Fisher with a few things you need to know today. It's 9:00 AM central on Monday, January 24th, ASG passed a resolution Wednesday asking administration to require that professors offer virtual alternatives to in-person learning excuse absences, related to COVID-19 and have COVID-19 policies written into their syllabus. This comes in light of high COVID-19 cases that could lead to concerns from immunocompromised and high risk students. Northwestern Sigma Chi fraternity is suspended until fall of 2024. Following an investigation by Northwestern's office of community standards. The violations include alleged drug drugging as well as multiple social events held during the Interfraternity. Council's resulting ban on social events and recruitment between September and January 3rd, a total of $1.25 million in aid was given to 19 Evanston businesses as a part of the Pritzker administrations back to business programs, which disperses $250 million of federal COVID-19 relief to Illinois. Chicago public schools began only listing COVID-19 cases verified by their contact tracing team resulting in school level cases, going unreported within district wide totals last month, following an observer, noticing discrepancies in CPS COVID data tracking recently, CPS officials say they will reevaluate their methods due to fears of Russia invading Ukraine. The U S state department is ordering families of American personnel in Kiev to leave the country along with any non-essential staff.
