Here are the headlines to start your day Northwestern's associated student government ASG took a vote on Wednesday night to reimplement a weekly COVID testing requirement for all students. Previously, students were only required to test in the two weeks following winter break. Now that ASG has taken a boat, the legislation will move to the executive board where administrators will decide whether or not to move forward. With ASD suggestions, 100 firefighters from three different counties in Illinois. We're called to respond to a large place at a boat storage facility at the Waukegan lakefront yesterday. The facilities fire alarms first went off at around 8:00 PM on Wednesday night, but the flames were not fully extinguished until the next morning. Luckily no one was injured, but the fire did cost several millions of dollars of damages to the books. Speaker 1 00:01:11 Ex Chicago police officer Jason van Dyke, who was arrested for the murder of 17 year old Laquan McDonald in 2014 was released from prison yesterday after serving less than half of his seven year sentence, mayor Lightfoot expressed her quote, Supreme disappointment and quote at his release stating that the scenario feels like a quote miscarriage of justice and quote, the 2022 Beijing winter Olympics opening ceremony happened at 5:30 AM CST today. While some events had already occurred, this marked the official ceremonial start of the winter games. If you were unable to watch the opening ceremony live a primetime presentation of the ceremony will air on NBC at 8:00 PM.
