Speaker 1 00:00:04 Good morning and welcome to the daily cat WMUR daily news brief. I'm your host, Ellie Skelly with a few things you need to know today. It's 9:00 AM central time on November 15th. Let's get into today's news. IBM has gifted the university $5 million to indoubt. Two new computer science professorships. The gift is in honor of Ginni Rometty. After graduating Northwestern, Romania went on to work at GM big blue, and eventually IBM, where she would serve as the first female chief executive. The $5 million donation is meant to support research and teaching related to artificial intelligence and machine learning. The first professorship sponsored will be awarded to Jessica Holman. The second is yet to be chosen from a senior scholar with a distinction in AI or machine learning as COVID-19 vaccines become available for children, five to 11 Evanston and Skokie district 65 schools are hosting vaccination clinics for students. Speaker 1 00:01:08 The first dose was administered on November 13th and the second dose will be distributed on December 4th. A new law and Illinois makes a voting process easier for people with disabilities. Governor JB Pritzker signed off on the bill yesterday. The law requires any polling place accessible to voters with disabilities to include at least one wheelchair accessible voting booth. The access to voting for persons with disabilities advisory has also been formed to study the removal of further barriers to voting and national news. President Biden ordered several cabinet departments to investigate human trafficking and crime on native American lands. This asphalt is yesterday's white house summit on tribal nations. The president also requested the justice Homeland security and interior departments to make Amber alert programs more accurate, and also to Institute training programs for federal agents charged with handling human trafficking and crime plans were also put in place to Institute a 20 year ban on oil and gas drilling on native lands.
