Speaker 1 00:00:03 Good morning. You're listening to the daily cat. Your morning news brief from w N R news. I'm your host Justine Fisher. It's 9:00 AM central time on Wednesday, May 5th, 2022. Here are the headlines to start your day. Northwestern's native American and indigenous student alliances. First spring pow. Wow, is this Saturday, May 7th at Welsh Ryan arena. The annual event will be on honoring the matriarchy, a Chicago man settled for 7.5 million. After more than seven years in prison for an armed robbery, he did not commit. Keith Cooper was pardoned in 2017 by governor Eric Holcomb. His conviction was later expunged by a judge, the settlement with a Northern Indiana city and the former police officers is the largest in Indiana's history. Chief justice Roberts announced yesterday that the Supreme court will investigate the release of justice Alitos draft opinion. The Supreme court draft opinion that was leaked Monday suggests the court will strike down. Speaker 1 00:01:06 Roe V. Wade, if Roe V Wade is overturned more than half of us states could ban abortion. 13 states currently have trigger laws. Vice president Harris said the overturning of Roe V. Wade would be a direct assault on the fundamental of self-determination president Biden and others have expressed concern that the overturning of Roe will strike down the right to privacy precedent. That underlines cases that legalized same sex marriage and contraceptives protestors outside the Supreme court and across American cities are marching in support of a ocean rights, a European union top official called on all EU nations to ban Russian oil imports today in an effort to target the country's largest bank. This is the sixth sanction proposed over the Warren Ukraine.
